Re: ChatGPT and AIs
I don't know why it's so bad and dishonest with certain factual things. It was probably designed to lie. It was not designed to lie, but it was not designed to not lie either. It's just autocomplete on steroids. More technically, it has a fixed number of parameters, and thus bits, to remember thing...

Re: Could you have an online community like INTPc today?
Could a forum like INTP central still exist today with sustainable traffic, number of active users and so forth? I think only if it carried over some momentum from like 20 years ago, or if it were on some centralised platform, like a group on a bigger site or application. Bonus question: where do l...

Re: Apologies for downtime
Is this forum being targeted by bots for a DDOS attack? https://www.imperva.com/blog/protecting-gamers-from-dos-ddos-attacks/ Basically (most of these detections require subscription to monitor the site.) https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=ddos+detection When I logged into the VM today the CPU was chok...

Re: Ship of Theseus Paradox
My attitude with these sorts of problems has kind of been influenced more by the late Wittgenstein (of Philosophical Investigations fame). Language is largely a social game of interaction and shared meaning through repetitive actions. The idea there is some kind of 'essence' to words largely misses...

You can only listen to these five albums for the rest of your life
Don't overthink it. But feel free to judge everyone for their choices.
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Radiohead - Kid A (I think?)
Aphex Twin - Richard D. James Album (not sure this is the right album)
Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Brian Eno - Another Green World

Re: Apologies for downtime
Been going camping a lot since winter decided to end early here. I think I understand camping conceptually, but beds are nice too. Wow, glad the forum is back. I thought you finally had enough. The list of defunct forums I frequented has been growing since the 1980s. Technofeudism for ya. Kinda bum...
