Re: Run-up to WW3

"...there will be massive consequences and severe costs in response, and the G7 is absolutely united in that," she said. “The kinds of costs that we are talking about are designed to be implemented very very fast." I think the G7 knows what it's doing. Expert opinions seem to be mixed on whether wh...

Re: Neurodivergence & INTPness

That definition of neurodivergent seems tautological. You have to have a definition of typical for atypical to have any meaning.

Re: Run-up to WW3

Last time around Obama talked a lot of shit and then just did nothing when Russia took Crimea. I don't see why it would be any different this time around. Russia will occupy Donbass, people will act outraged, nobody will do anything.

Re: flirtation

I've missed some very blatant signals. And when I do perceive signals my instinct is to withdraw because I'm generally not looking for that in my life. Even when I'm single and lonely and they're attractive, it's a bunch of emotional stress stuff with a stranger that I usually just don't want to get...

“Although allotment gardens, or community gardens for growing fruits and vegetables, are found in countries all over the world, Denmark takes special pride in dating the phenomenon within its borders back to the mid-1600s, when small gardens were planted outside the fortress walls of Fredericia.” S...

Re: crowdsourced healthcare

I hate doctors. I see them as purely an obstacle to getting the controlled substances I need. Incompetence is really common but mostly it's just a complete lack of regard for my well-being, no hesitation to lie and manipulate me, the condescending arrogance. The white coats are an essential part of ...

I teach computer science and in these nerdy circles, and people professing love for emacs these days is a very specific flex, like you can deadlift very heavy things, like your mouse is mostly ornamental. I have some experience with emacs, limited mostly to the commands to save and exit. I had a bo...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything

Millennials and gen Z / Alpha are definitely drifting away from aspiring to be rich, and are instead focused on helping and uplifting each other and finding happiness in non-monetary ways. I’m technically a Xennial since I’m right on the cusp of gen X and Millenial. Despair around climate change, n...

Interesting! Is it The Long Dark by any chance? I play 7 Days to Die when I’m in a gaming mood and I heard about TLD when looking for similar survivalist type games. I haven’t given it a try yet though. Yes, it's The Long Dark. I would say it has a much different feel to it than other sandbox survi...

Re: Concert experiences

Best show I ever attended: Cannibal Corpse. I was like 16. There was a local spot where all ages shows, local kids punk stuff mostly. Lots of fun stupid times there. Cannibal Corpse was by far the biggest act to play in that venue. Pretty small place, room for maybe a couple hundred? No seats. That ...
