I've always had real jobs that require actually doing things and not just fucking around on the internet, so I have never "worked" from home
Same.

That being said, let those who can wfh do so. Those of us who can’t would like to avoid the traffic.

Re: What do vegetarians eat again?

I eat spaghetti squash with lentil bolognese. It's a pretty easy meal. The sauce is better if you use an immersion blender to puree some of the lentils into the tomato sauce, and then add the rest of the lentils to the mix. Technically, it's not pasta. I also have a vegan instant pot cookbook that h...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything

Another question that was in the back of my mind (mostly for the U.S., but also for Canada or whatever country really): if you had to ask a foreigner a question to figure out whether or not they were born and raised in your country, what would it be? (Not a shibboleth ... not pronunciation based.) ...

Re: crowdsourced healthcare

I hate doctors. I see them as purely an obstacle to getting the controlled substances I need. Incompetence is really common but mostly it's just a complete lack of regard for my well-being, no hesitation to lie and manipulate me, the condescending arrogance. The white coats are an essential part of...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything

In the US we are socialized to think that if you’re rich, you’re a good person and if you’re poor, you’re deficient. Who thinks the rich are good people? Last I checked, everyone hates the rich unless they're trying to get money from them. On more pressing topics though, is it true that y'all in No...

Re: Clothes & navigating social stuff

Did you get any sense that your bosses calling you intimidating had anything to do with being punished for being smart, or confident/capable? No, it was because other people told them they were intimidated by me. One boss thought it was funny and didn't really hold it against me or expect me to do ...

Re: Clothes & navigating social stuff

I think clothing as a social signal is completely normal and most people do it without even thinking about it. I can think of no reason besides signaling to wear a graphic tee, or a band shirt, or sports team paraphernalia. I mean, I get that you might like whatever it is on your shirt, but why woul...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything

What are conversations about money like in the U.S.? Do y'all talk about how much money you make? When making small talk, do you ask people what they do for a living? Would you ask how well it pays? You almost always ask people what they do for a living, you almost never talk about how much people ...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything

Does your food and soft drinks and stuff taste different because of high fructose corn syrup? I understand that Coca Cola used to be sugar-based in the U.S. and is still sugar-based (sucrose-based) in many other countries. I guess I'm wondering if you can taste the difference or not. I'm so used to...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything

Also, re: ham sandwiches, I think most americans would put mayo and/or mustard on that, not butter.
