Re: What's going on in your city/country/region?
Is there a vaccine shortage or is some other factor leading to the lack of others doing the same as you? Possibly just ignorance of the scope of the problem or maybe some anti-vax nonsense post covid? Anyhow, I'm curious to see how Milei works out for Argentina. Drastic reform is clearly required, s...

Re: Run-up to WW3
Unpopular opinion: pour a ton of money into genetic research to make people smarter, share the technology with the world, wait a generation, then we could stop spending so much money and killing so many people because even if another country takes over it won't be so bad. I'd support that approach ...

Re: Run-up to WW3
Putin is going to be threatening nuclear war until somebody calls his bluff. If he is crazy enough to start a nuclear war when his country is under no threat and it's just his ego at stake then he is a full blown narcissistic psychopath and I figure it is just a matter of time until goes down that r...

I can't figure out what show you are talking about either. Google did not help me. I saw a reference to cheesy Australian show (Wilfred) with a guy in a dog costume but is was dated circa 2010.
I think ChatGPT should have just said: I don't know.

Re: Little gusts of hot air that don't deserve their own thread.
Yesterday I used a classic snow shovel with a wooden handle and steel blade for the first time. I don't see myself ever going back to anything else. It may be twice as heavy as my old plastic one with a fiberglass handle but it can take a pounding. My old one cracked. I can chip away at ice with my...

Hate it when that happens!HighlyIrregular wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 5:44 amAnother problem with a low range hood is I've had condensation on it from steam, and it dripped in my pot.
Assuming you sampled your pot to see if the condensation had detrimental effects, I am wondering if it was the bang on the head that made you dizzy?

Re: Little Rants
It's a good idea, but I'm sure it would cost more to process/package foods without plastic. Which might be money well spent. Still, in these food inflationary times, I doubt further food cost increases would be popular. And corporations, being corporations, would pass on double the cost of required ...

Re: ChatGPT and AIs
About AI, it's a little disturbing that Youtube's automated closed captioning has helped me understand what people were saying on numerous occasions. Only because it has me questioning whether I'm particularly bad at it. I think I was particularly bad at understanding people with accents as a kid. ...

Have you ever had a problem with microorganisms in your water tank? I never have and I keep it set to 130F. Seems like a waste of energy (and therefor money) to keep it higher.

Easier said than done though, isn't it? As I understand it, places where cocoa beans are grown have high levels of lead and cadmium in the soils (not sure if this is just natural to the geography or due to lax environmental standards in banana republics in which they are grown). These get taken up b...
