Re: What are you reading?
Had a grotesque level of flying last week or two (15 flights in 12 days tour of Oz and NZ) so got through a fair chunk of reading. SS Great Britain by Len Deighton. Decent enough alternate history / crime novel. Kolyma Tales by Victor Shalamov - Should be force fed to anyone supporting extremism. Ne...

Re: What did you learn about in History?
Can't remember doing any history at school. I think it was supposed to be covered in Social Studies but don't think it was covered much there either. I found a report online which said when I was at school students taking history in 6th Form had dropped to 21% http://www.nzjh.auckland.ac.nz/docs/19...

Re: What did you learn about in History?
I went to a shit comprehensive school in the UK in the 80s. Therefore I was subjected to a bunch of hard left teachers teaching how awful my country is, how everything bad in the world is due to capitalism. Thankfully I had the good sense to see through their idiocy. My own children will not be subj...

Re: flirtation
I think I had this same thread on INTPc but I'm doing it again anyway. Do you understand how to flirt? Can you detect flirtation when it's directed at you? How explicitly do the words 'I am attracted to you and would like to explore that some more' have to be vocalized before you recognize that som...

Re: Run-up to WW3
Just haven't had the time to post here since. I'm frustrated the talks failed again today. Is this guy really prolonging the war on his people because he won't give up the Donbass? What the fuck does he expect will happen if this is allowed to continue? Part of me thinks Zelensky is stalling for NA...

Re: most of you are insufferable assholes
Great video. I always joke when asked about language, that I only learned English at 18 when I left Birmingham! My working class Brummy was so strong nobody understood a word I was saying, might as well have been speaking French. These days I have the classical English problem of which language do I...

Re: Growing food from seed
What’s your favorite method for sanitizing seed starting trays each season? I washed them in my tub last year pretty thoroughly and still lost a whole tray to what I suspect was soap residue. I haven’t tried a bleach-based method yet. In my own garden, i don't. never have a problem either. Love rai...

Re: Covid news and views
Having recently visited both Netherlands and Egypt, thought I'd post some observations. Omicron is the end of COVID, it just isn't dangerous and all restrictions should be lifted now globally. There is no justification for any legal restraints on peoples lives now. Government needs to advise and let...

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything
Looks like China will be the next big dog, so that doesn't strike me as all the appealing. However, empire is a bit of a misnomer in this context. America has a significant impact on global affairs, sure, but I suspect nobody in Europe or Australia or any the like considers America their 'masters'....
