Re: Run-up to WW3
Here’s a good one. The blind Baba Vanga, apparently known as “the Nostradamus from the Balkans”, made, before her death, a chilling prophecy about the use of nuclear weapons and World War 3. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/blind-mystic-baba-vangas-prediction-10259516 Baba warned tha...

Re: Things that should have improved by now
I think that is just perception. Remember that quiz somebody posted a while back on the state of the world? And most people (including myself) got quite a few questions wrong because we assumed things are worse that they really are, probably due to bad news stories in the media. Poverty has been gr...

Re: Things that should have improved by now
Considering that every generation has the sense they're living on the brink of unprecedented societal collapse (and I think this is the big one), it's a funny question. Things don't seem to improve, ever. I think that is just perception. Remember that quiz somebody posted a while back on the state ...
Re: Olympics
They need calishtenics. You can’t tell me people wouldn’t be more interested in who can do more push-ups than synchronized diving. Yes, but perhaps too close to ring gymnastics or bar gymnastics? Hi, Park :hi: Now I just want to see who can do the most push-ups out of current Olympians. The smart m...

Re: Olympics
I've barely seen any olympics here with work and no TV. Any sports anyone thinks should not be in the olympics? There's some debate about the new sports like skateboarding and whatnot. Curling and shooting, I prefer sports that involve more athleticism. Racewalking because it looks silly. I'd enjoy...
Re: Olympics
On one slow afternoon during the 2016 or 2012 Games I actually watched the 50 km race walk. The focus of interest was the front-runner -- uh, front- walker , and not just because he was in front. This guy had a history of taking the early lead then having his body quit on him before the finish. Cou...

Re: The uneasy partnership of feminism and trans rights
I'm starting to think she may just want to compete for political reasons (i.e. to make a statement) and is not that serious about her training and/or winning. I train weightlifting and I really don’t hope that is the case. The women at the olympics have trained many years to qualify for their spot....
Re: Olympics
Not sure, I don't really watch racewalking I was just trying to be funny. I got your jest Park. I wonder who (if anybody) really watches those long distance competitions end to end (marathon, walkathon, long distance biking). Just show me the last 5 minutes, even though I realize the race is usuall...
