Where would it go though? the sand has to go somewhere and if it just settled further into the canal it probably would just cause more problems. Plus, that could damage the ship.last_caress wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 3:05 pmI'm wondering why they didn't try explosives under the bow sand formation to induce collapse of the upper layer.

Re: Gun culture in the US
I always post this video in these threads about shootings, but in this case it seems particularly pertinent given that the two events were so close together: Two? Does VA beach not count? I suppose that was a more run of the mill American shooting, not a crazy lone gunman killing strangers. Though ...

Re: The uneasy partnership of feminism and trans rights
I have absolutely no problem using favoured pronouns etc to make them feel more comfortable, but redefining the meaning of 'woman' to include them is a step too far. I think there is a difference between gender and sex. Gender is a system of categorization which has up until now been tied to sex, a...

Re: Covid news and views
I am interested to see how all the countries tally up in terms of COVID deaths when all is said and done. It seems like Sweden isn't doing that poorly relative to other European countries that did lock down.

I saw a therapist who decided I had anxiety (I saw her because I was having a hard time focusing, which she said was...

Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa. They spent all of yesterday not disclosing the name. That was just maddening. I saw the video of a bearded guy and assumed it could be a foreign terrorist this time. To be fair, they don't want to disclose the name before 1) they are certain he was the shooter, which is not a...

Re: The uneasy partnership of feminism and trans rights
Not that many sports segregate physical size or strength in the first place - exceptions I can think of are boxing, or the segregation of teams by age range (junior leagues, etc). But do we have basketball teams for different-height people to "level the playing field" for everyone? Do we have track...
