Re: What are you reading?
The Name of the Rose - I’m worried I’m gonna miss a clue when I scan over a conversation about herbalism at the monastary. There’s really a lot of ideas I’d never thought about and historical context in this book. I can see why it’s so well regarded. I need something else I can fall asleep to. That...

Re: Fanciful new purchases undeserving of their own thread
Still a bit torn myself on the electric razor vs. the traditional razor. An electric shaver/trimmer is a fine tool in the kit, but shouldn't be your sole option outside of travel. Even then, a safety razor is still perfectly viable. Personally, I own a 15-year-old German Merkur Futur and its direct...

Re: MBTI spotting
I genuinely don't think I have seen MBTI used/mentioned in meatspace since the 90s, and even that I am not entirely convinced actually happened.
But if it did, I took a test in school and it said I would be suited to a career as an undertaker. Which is exceedingly incorrect.

Re: Do you believe in Prayer? Do you care?
If we are being serious, then per my inherited tradition: there is no sky father to beg on knee for favours, only our degree of harmony with the world, our internal balance between order and chaos, and a ritual of focused thought and selflessness. And I have found that I am OK with that. If you are ...

Re: Do you believe in Prayer? Do you care?
Your question is insufficiently specific, so: Yes, I believe the claims that prayer exists as a practice. :|

No, no faith that is practical, don't care.
What? Stop. You know better.

Re: AAA: Ask America Anything
I have no sense of the timeline, but at present anti-union sentiment is extremely strong. They just take your money for nothing and block changes that would create new jobs. That coupled with the running narrative that you deserve to earn so little money and suffer, because only lazy people stay in...
