Re: Thinking of ditching my bread box

Seems my bread box was popular in the 1960s (I don't think it's from the 1950s). Someone put this one up for sale and I found several other almost identical ones. I want to try to polish a better mirror finish into mine so it looks more like that one, or reface it. There's a shelf inside and the top...

Thinking of ditching my bread box

I'm undertaking long, slow renovation that started years ago and recently started picking up. I was thinking about my countertop and whether my bread box, which I never used for bread, is really necessary. My bread box stuff could go in cabinets. I keep bread in Tupperware in the fridge. BTW, I don'...

You could travel in time for some aftershock action if you're close enough to a large one.

Re: Run-up to WW3

We'd see it coming from more than an editorial. There would be multiple levels of measured responses and channels of communication with the enemy would be open throughout. It wouldn't be something like North Korea finally crossing the line, in NATO's opinion only, and now China and Russia are target...

Re: How much water do you drink a day?

This thread reminds me of my old "Does anyone not drink water" thread. The Washington Post just published the article Drinking 8 glasses of water a day usually isn’t necessary, an exercise scientist says.

Re: Watcha doin? - a hobby thread

Might I inquire what the coax's new use is for? I cut out and threw away the old master antenna coax (the section for my apartment). The new coax is for cable TV and cable internet, which I don't get any more because I had a dispute with Cablevision, but if I or a future tenant ever wants it, it wi...

Re: Watcha doin? - a hobby thread

I've been doing odd renovation projects. I'll need a new countertop eventually and I guess I'll consider tile now that I see Nanacat's countertop. I can handle that myself and it looks like an inexpensive option. I'll have to look into whether it's considered a decent countertop material. Currently ...

Re: What's going on in your city/country/region?

Punishing only those who pay for sex and allowing solicitation will cause more prostitution "sales". Somehow there was a bottleneck in prosecuting prostitutes, with some open cases going back to the 1970s (I'd like to know how that happened), plus many of those arrested were minorities, illegal immi...
