Re: Podcasts, courses, documentary series, etc

Much as you are my favourite socialist Maddy, I cant bring myself to watch it. I love work above all else, and lose sleep at night worrying about not competing enough of it Now ego aside, my work could feasibly save the humanity, so I have a a reasonably good reason for finishing my oevre. Having sa...

Re: Covid news and views

Flights from the UK to the US open back up on the 8th, so I am flying to Texas on the 8th. First time out of the UK since last February and it will be a very different (different bad) experience now methinks. Despite being double vaccinated there is a ludicrous level of box ticking to get on the fli...

Re: Language learning tactics that worked

I hate to admit it, but the traditional English technique of being English so mostly people speak your language has worked well for me over the years. I pick up spoken language reasonably well if I immerse myself but that only works when people don't help you by having decent English. Duolingo I fou...

Awesome last couple of years we've been having.
Hello,

Hope you are the original Hustler. If so look forwards to catching up and exchanging views. Didn't always see eye to eye, but you were no dummy.

Re: Indoor meetings

Bubbles are gone here now. Was at a wake yesterday with well over a hundred people. Was at an awards ceremony last week with over a thousand in the room, but we had to do a test ahead of entering. Nit that are worth anything as you take it then phone and tell them if you passed or not and they text ...

Re: Contemporary art

Not a fan of it as art. I think it is very much a case of 'the Emperor has no clothes' and that artists like Damian Hirst and tracy Emin are very aware of this and laughing into their sleeves whilst bilking gullible people for silly money. I don't have a problem with this, indeed I find it amusing, ...

Re: Covid news and views

Here in the UK nobody is dying of COVID, and the lack of freedom os staring to grate. Everybody that wants to be has been vaccinated. Not interested in it anymore. Nobody? The rolling 7 day average is 144 with 203 today. That's nearly our total annual road toll in two days. We have a below average ...

Re: Covid news and views

Before the UK turned into North Korea and i got stuck here, the last trip I had was Limpopo in South Africa to be a keynote speaker at an Avocado symposium. This week the owner of the plantation and the organiser of te conference died of COVID which is a sobering reminder of what it can do in places...
