Re: Geopolitical anomalies

Some 8000 miles away from Britain, off the southernmost tip of Argentina, there are these godforsaken islands occupied by some deranged brits (no doubt for their shit weather) and declared British land. Wrap your head around that one. :cookies: https://www.google.com/maps/vt/data=PJdnrJ5OBkU0XEjn8C...

Re: What are you reading?

Nietzsche and the vicious Circle by Pierre Klossowski.

Read it a few years ago, but too busy to have enough head space for anything new. Recommend it to people that are interested in Nietzscshe (and if not then go stand on the naughty step).

I am sick from second vaccine shot. So cold ... I feel alone. I'm afraid.

Got my second shot in a couple of weeks. Be calm, it will pass. Don't be afraid, be strong. You are immune, you are safer.

Re: Billionaires should (not) exist?

We're mainly talking about the couple of hundred 0.01 percenters that have as much money as half the world's population. Nietzche puts this better than I can in Thus spoke Zarathustra: 'Alas! The time of the most contemptible man is coming, the man who can no longer despise himself. Behold! I show ...

Re: Billionaires should (not) exist?

No doubt, I feel at least a version of what you feel, although my "number" is a bit lower. I can't help but to believe it's a perversion of what my natural desires and ambitions would be given something like a post-scarcity society. Also- is it beneficial to society that everyone be made to feel th...

Re: Little Rants

The most scary experience I have ever had though was a snapped lift cable in Russia. I have always been under the comfortable delusion that since Elisha Otis's invention of lifts with safety locking mechanisms this isn't a big deal, but this wasn't your experience? It was in an old soviet era hotel...

Re: Little Rants

Nearly hit in what sense? Physical or temporal proximity? Again I have never seen lighting at a close distance. My dad says he had a radio in his car blown out by lightning before though. Yes temporal proximity. It was the year after communism collapsed and I was taking advantage of being able to v...

Re: Little Rants

I suppose I shouldn't tempt fate, but I am curious to experience an earthquake at least once. All the small tremors that (theoretically) struck in the UK and Spain I slept through. I experienced a 7 Richter scale one once in Turkey. I was driving out of Adana en route to Mersin and it bounced the c...

Re: Chai there! - a tea thread

instant is for children ugh. Drinking instant is the true measure of a coffee drinker. As an incorrigible coffee drinker, I will have any kind of coffee, not just the nice kind. :P (you could probably compare this to alcoholism...) I agree and do the same, hate the stuff but need a supply of caffei...

Re: Covid news and views

Had my Astra Zeneca shot this week. I am not particularly worried about Covid, but want my ability to travel back and at this point would drink raw sewage if it just gave me my freedoms back. The UK is way ahead of Europe on vaccination, and until they catch up things wont get back to normal here ei...
