Re: What are you reading?

Moby Dick. Most American thing I ever read (not done yet).

Anyone who read and enjoyed On The Road? That might be next.

Re: Message in a bottle - stuff you wished you'd said but didn't

A person, who I imagine being female though I don't know why, a couple of months ago, who I saw in her window a block away, seemed to mimic my hands on waist, fingers in my waistband posture. I bet she knew I looked at her. I'm thinking I should have played monkey see monkey do with her for a while...

Re: The food and drink thread

Went to a fancy Italian restaurant in Buenos Aires and realized something. My pasta is better. I guess this is what happens when you cook your own food, some restaurants become underwhelming.

I can live with some other fruit flavors or cola in a pinch but they are always a let down compared to grape/orange. If I am going to risk sending my insulin levels into or...

Re: What are you reading?

Every night, I've been reading some stories by Katherine Mansfield and Elizabeth Bowen. I'm really liking Katherine Mansfield's earlier stories. The latter seem a bit more focused on class, the earlier ones on love (I haven't read enough to be sure of that though).

Re: What are you listening to?

While trying not to hyperventilate on an airplane, I got to listen to Brel: Ces Gens-Là , a compilation of his songs interpreted by various artists. I don't usually like that kind of thing but this was pretty good - even the rap of Il nous faut regarder . Here's a popular gem I only just discovered ...

For All Mankind, an alternatve history series in which the Soviets get to the moon before the US. It's good.

Re: What are you reading?

It was such beautiful writing. The story of two people accused of witchcraft and how they are actually scapegoated for the town's struggles against hardship, disease, nature, the natives and also other colonists. Ironically, even the town founder and magistrate initially hearing the case, William Py...

Re: What are you reading?

Anabasis by Xenophon Thanks, I'll remember this one. I just finished reading Stephen Fry's trilogy on Greek Mythology and it was great (Mythos, Heroes and Troy). I hope to read some of the Greeks again soon. I also read this book http://kbimages1-a.akamaihd.net/Images/37a3a1e6-a567-4df4-af38-7c1b31...
