it is where we make a group that tries to meet up and play board/table top/card games online. Say, Catan, D&D, or ... Canasta? That's a card game, right.

Scrabble? I don't know how to play many games and I don't listen to instructions, but I'd join.

Here is some advice I received long ago on the first iteration of this site (in song form). I've since framed all of my activity from this nifty perspective. C'mon, guys let's hokey pokey!! :yahoo:

Surely, I ought not.

I didn't even click that and already I am unspeakably outraged! The joke was that there are five core rule books, each 200+ pages, and while it is not necessary to read through through even one of them it still presents a calamitous about of rules for someone unable or unwilling to follow them.

OUTRAGED

Anyway: Scrabble, or an acceptably refined knock-off, seems the obvious choice. But who wants that?

[EDIT: Apologies, this is incorrect. It is three core rule books and four supplemental rule books. So, either way not five.]

I DM'd (Dungeon Mastered) D&D when I was in high school back in the 70s. There were three rule books, quite slim, and I bought the expansion book at some point. A thousand pages of rules doesn't sound like something for the faint of heart. Even with 3 slim books a game could bog down quickly looking up a rule.

It is the same three core rule books, though each is larger, with every supplemental book considered optional. Including all would be quite a lot to ask but also wildly out of character per the title of this thread, so what are you going to do.

Also, an eighth book is being released next month so we would have to include that as well.
