Emergency preparedness

Post by HighlyIrregular II » Sat Jan 04, 2025 10:56 pm

I heard years ago that you should have a crowbar to pry open doors in case an earthquake jams the door and prevents you from leaving. I think they said one in every room. I recently heard that Henry Winkler keeps one in every room. (Incidentally, in the 70s he did a PSA to promote humming loudly instead of screaming when you're in danger, because kids often scream while playing). I'm not in an earthquake prone area, but the small possibility of a damaging one in my area combined with the chance a doorknob malfunction locks me in the bathroom got me to buy a crowbar for the bathroom. I keep the bathroom door shut all the way to hold in the steam. So now I'm looking for a box or bag for it to prevent rust.
