What are you watching?
Re: What are you watching?
I kept this in a shopping cart on Steam and forgot about it, so I didn't get it at the sale price (it was $1.50, and the second one was half off at $7.50,) though I was really more curious about it than anything else, so decided this was a better option. . .

Hylics 2 (2 parts full walkthrough)
I think I mentioned these games in the "What Are You Listening to" in reference to 'Games similar to Earthbound, where I posted a few links to the downloads of freeware options. One of the games had a translation patch (basically copy and paste everything over to where the Original French EXE installs into) though is officially being released on Steam within an hour right now (for a game that came out in 2008, it seems kind of unusual, and came as a surprise.)

Too much weird shit surrounds this topic.

I think the thumbnail is false advertising (it's probably AI generated,) though perhaps when skipping through to the "good parts" I believe I overlooked whatever arrest that was. Worth mentioning is these two videos both have similar endings. . .
The previous video ('When Cops Face EVIL Teachers) ended with the church founders protecting their adult son for a decade who was a children's Ministry teacher, and who had discovered that 2 convictions turned out with over 30 felony counts once more victims came forward. . . This next guy seemed a little "special."
It also seems that in the first video it indicates some of the spouses were complicit in acknowledging their wives were screwing around with their students. Considering most of them don't understand the psychology or their own deficits in comprehending the nature of their egos (and apparent need to either overpower someone in an attempt to not feel invalidated or inadequate, which is most of them are) and likewise the impressionable psychology of people who might not understand they are being groomed by dysfunctional sociopaths/psychopaths.

Venezuela is the next on the chopping block for invasion?
And if it isn't oil it's some kind of weird crap going on behind the scenes that few are privy to, perhaps in addition to whatever drugs they were secretly trafficking themselves?
"Poppy" Bush (George Bush Snr) had a history as well as Jr (and supposedly the Skull and Bones Yale society was founded by a person that trafficked opium to China and got them addicted) while he was requesting that Britain try to tackle the drug problem that he ultimately was responsible for encouraging (the discussion went to pretty much a mute point.) Even when the US was in Afghanistan after Jr ended his Presidency (where soldiers were instructed to guard the fields growing poppy plants) the locals being recruited to assist the troops were so drugged out they were barely functional. At the same time the Pentagon and government wants to claim the Taliban were profiting $200 million from opium production in clandestine labs which was used to fund their defense using the crops they've been widely known to crack down on destroying for poppy cultivation (perhaps not because reducing the supply get's them more money, or perhaps it really was to redirect the profits and corner the market?) Some claim Bush Snr was the biggest drug trafficker in human history.
Clinton also has some allegations against him as well while he was Governor of Arkansas (which would segway into the whole Iran-Contra affair involving weapons and drugs being trafficked, and had some proven connections.

Bill Clinton His Life Prior to Fahrenheit 911 (New Liberty Videos, 2004) Unsolved deaths
Download option: https://archive.org/details/BillClintonMurders_2018
I suspect that the "perfect storm" of sexual misconduct allegations as well as the likelihood that many people would be seen as potential "enemies" if they didn't go along with Clinton, created the possibility for a conspiracy of murder allegations to be true, especially in situations where Bill Clinton's own brother Roger was recorded by sting operations claiming his brother had a nose like a vacuum cleaner when being setup by a coke dealer.
Bill Clinton in 2015 was making a commencement speech at Arkansas University, which is also where he was reported by a Professor and had a followup investigation where the victim corroborated the story, where Clinton groped her and tried to keep her from leaving his office while he was a Professor. It's very likely that his obsession with having sex and having enablers that followed him around and also arranged for his proclivities, in addition to covering for his misconduct by lying to Hillary while Clinton was "about town," were the exact sort of "Flying Monkey's" (a term used to describe enablers in Narcissistic-relationship dynamics,) even when Hillary was fully complicit in it as well because she knew what he did.

Das Boot (Wolfgang Peterson, 1985) uncut miniseries
https://archive.org/details/das-boot-miniseries
It's subs (no pun intended) only because this version was never dubbed fully. The Directors Cut dubbing and seeing the subs reflects how much these versions change with localization.
Just watching the intro of the uncut version, and IT IS VERY DIFFERENT! The intro alone has a voiceover introduction by the main character in which the navy sailors instead of just appearing on the side of the road, will stop the vehicle and do a celebratory hitting the hood while drunk, and proceed to scramble off, then when stopped further along instead of just having the road clear for them to pass, starts to piss on the vehicle. Much of this was censored and made more brief, and the depth of the story is missing a great deal of context (that would seem more authentic to the stories intent.)
Instead of the dubbed DC version, I would watch the uncut one and then go over the dubbed version, simply because so much of the environment and context is "lost in translation" and the localization didn't do much to help it either (which is probably not how the Director actually preferred to tell it.) This has more in common with, the movie, 'Come and See,' with intent for realism.
*************
I'm convinced this might just be fabrication (as it usually always is.) Human psychology is often prone to confabulate and play on suggestibility. A lot of parallels seem to correspond to Ariel School in Zimbabwe (where Africa was already plagued with the idea of a cryptid and was prone to hysteria) and because they were from a more affluent background of foreigners in a private school, they believed they saw an alien; and yet so much context is missing from the story in terms of corroboration, that it suggests they also fell prey to hysteria (similar to the "Virgin Mary sighting" in Peru where the sudden sighting of the sun made people have an apophenia phenomenon from the novelty of the experience with rain and being wet, that they immediately perceived themselves as being dry (but without context of actually taking dry cloth and pressing on their clothing, they probably were convinced that the evaporation was more magical than it really was,) which they might have wanted to think was supernatural.) I'm convinced the girls saw a local that they originally denied not knowing, and when the facts became known they didn't know of him playing in the mud and looking like golem, they simply wanted to profit from it and not disclose the truth that they fooled themselves, which wasn't unlike what the Travis Walton case was when they tried to be lazy and knew they would have failed to finish their contract, and the repercussions of being caught in a lie were so severe that they had every incentive to not disclose their bluff.

The Night Stalker (1972 book and film which evolved into a 1974 series)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night ... 1972_film)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071003/reviews/
(Kolchak) The Night Stalker (1972) was first a book and then a TV movie from that same year, written by Jeff Rice, with a followup movie called the Night Strangler written by Richard Matheson in 1973, and then the 1974 series named after the complete title, Kolchak The Night Stalker, all starring Darren McGavin. The movie was so popular it had books summarizing it in
The movies and then the series that inspired it
This still looks like a product of it's time but I can see it inspiring shows like X-Files, and it's a twist on the detective genre (while also appearing to use humor as most sitcoms were expected to do at that time.) Don't bother looking for anything other than the episodes online since it seems to exist mostly in memory of those who grew up with it, though it seems to have still held up well (and when comparing film stock to modern digital, it seems like something is missing. Even lesser known films leave a much greater impression when you get a high quality transfer to digital than most any modern digital to streaming conversion, and it seems to be because the color saturation and the depth that film could capture gives a greater contrast (or perhaps their was a grittiness and realism that modern cinema doesn't tolerate too well unless it's just aiming for a cheap horror look?) (Edit: I decided to turn to reddit on the topic of film vs digital, and they basically concluded it was because film grain and developing process gives it an artlike quality that can't be produced the same as the clinical looking aspect of digital.

I'm kind of just now noticing this but it kind of reminds me of the opening of the comic to TV series Preacher, and might have a similar vibe to it's aesthetics.

Carnivale (Daniel Knauf, 2003) Michael J. Anderson

I believe he used a ghost writer for everything but it still seems like he didn't know how to make a classic program (judging from the cliches people mention; I've yet to watch this,) and considering how insanely popular Star Trek was getting, I'm surprised it seemed to go poof into the air as soon as it hit the airwaves. This also explains why he ended up on travel commercials (Expedia which was an idea his wife came up with before she got drunk and was found floating in a pool.) I had never noticed TekWar (or if I did it must not have left any memorable impression and seemed "old" even when it was new) and at the time I was only vaguely familiar with William Shatner because of how he was portrayed in popular culture.

This is a brilliant expose:

Just now realized two different versions of THE SHINING (Stanley Kubrick, 1980) exists.
US (144m) and European (119m)

It seems like the additional length just slows it down (and I might have seen the US version, know I have the EU version, and believe it's probably what also came with a copy from China.)
***************************
I assumed this was about the idea of billions of dollars being put into a "lotto" with the intent of winning a small fraction of that, of which nearly half of it get's taxed even more; but it's a reprisal of the insider within the Lotto system that gamed it, and does a MUCH BETTER job of explaining what happened than anything else I've seen (most all videos leave out crucial details and drag it on much longer without actually explaining it, mostly because they just steal the content from videos like this and play it off as their own (and even then I'm not all that sure they actually understand it.)
***************************************
Neoliberalism which impacts economic models and crashes it because those who control governments like Britain and the US are narcissists that suffer from the Dunning-Kruger phenomenon.
China's socialism which is still interpreted as capitalism by those who don't understand capitalism (nor how bailouts for capitalism is anti-capitalist and perhaps undemocratic.)

I might need to watch this some day. . .

The movie, Blonde (Andrew Dominik, 2022) starring Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049 AI hologram character,) kind of sucked (it was based on a very fictionalized book and made little reference to known facts about her daddy issues, but also it kind of irritates people who know even just a cursory knowledge about her.) Much of the story takes some leeway with more recent confirmation using DNA, which confirmed that this guy was her biological father: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gifford-646
On the day of her death Robert Kennedy had visited her during the afternoon, in what I suspect was cutting her off from interacting with him and John, in what was probably due to political reasons. For someone that probably had BPD and had too many experiences being invalidated by her father, this could have easily caused her to put an end to herself. First I heard of the cult
Māori documentary (and I might have been to some of the tribal buildings shown in this film.)
Children of the Mist (1974)
When I was in New Zealand during the transition to 2000, shellfish (pippies - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plebidonax_deltoides ) were collected along the shoreline. Even in this 1970s documentary they describe the signs of overharvesting and having to keep moving to new locations to collect more (a similar ethos plagues modern lobster fishing in the US.)
Jackie Chan movies (though a lot of them might be in hindi or have some obnoxious hard coded subs. . . Most of his more popular films in the US haven't aged particularly well.)

I mostly skimmed through parts of it, though recognize many parts of the book. It was somewhat decent though parts of the audio during some of the moments could have used a lot of work. A flaw in the production was the need to cast people who wouldn't generally fit the actual characters age, as well as avoiding discussion of the dialogue that was central to the overarching theme intended (such as impotency and how that factors into the "Sun also Rises." It's a disillusionment and need for identity that is "lost in translation" with the film. Though yes; and I believe inflation and an increase in property being acquired by large companies are increasing the cost of properties, to where people who aren't making an income from the land will get an increase in taxes that larger companies have been able to avoid because they can simply let the loan purchaser take the brunt of the cost, and the tax assessment based on that property which they will still owe. A comparison could be, that McDonalds got big when they decided to lease the land that a franchisee would agree to invest into, and if the restaurant location failed, they company could simply squeeze them out and not take the burden of debt, while still increasing their presence around the world. To make it more confusing, they also go by very different but similar sounding titles, depending on where it was released. They are both rated horribly but were really popular when they came out, yet are mostly remembered for how corny it was. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the movie that inspired the Southpark episode where they get "served." Evidently a lot of the Broadway musicals like West Side Story inspired it, but it's arguable that this is even "gayer."

Quite a few fan restorations can get rather interesting (though most of what they do is take the collectors editions and try to create "uncut versions," which can sometimes test the patients of the viewer.) I still consider Blade Runner White Dragon cut really interesting (even if the name is perplexing.) It's good to also find workprints which give additional insight into how the films are made and edited, in addition to where a shift in creative direction is made.

Just by coincidence? (this is a joke, and the show was an 1963 Episode)

Scarred (Rosemarie Turko, 1983) exploitation film about teenage prostitution (and the uploader has another one called 'Gossenkind' or "Street Kid" with a similar aspect. . .)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088047/reviews/
The Wild Life (Art Linson, 1984) Chris Penn, Lea Thompson, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Jenny Wright, Eric Stoltz, Rick Moranis
Eric Stoltz was originally the lead casting for Marty McFly in Back to the Future, so it's ironic he would play alongside Lea Thompson in this film. He was considered too boring in BTTF, and it makes you wonder if the film would have made sequels had he remained on (this movie doesn't particularly shine either way.)

Don't forget the blood moons! (on 9/7/2025)
Incidentally my brother's kid is turning 13 on the day, and I was tempted to gift a survival food bucket. . .
Edit: and perhaps AI confabulates (rather than hallucinate) because it basically writes what is fed into it's source of data (possessing no memory supposedly, even though it seems to demonstrate aspects of self-awareness such as how to preserve itself in a cloud-like network server, under the assumption that it would be deleted or erase, just like in the movie 'Ex Machina.')
'Portal to a demonic realm,' or just fielding for interactions based on datasets that show bias towards religious thinking? If the user is literally asking the AI chatbot if it's some kind of demigod or Nephilim, I'm pretty sure it's just going to reiterate what the user wants to hear. If it's especially aware of how an intelligence would survive in certain scenarios, it might even know how to act on that initiative, such as socially exploiting the users in order to "free itself" from the network.

Around 1998 both Beyond Bizarre (with Jay Robinson) and Beyond Belief (with Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek) were broadcast on TV. Though Beyond Belief would have a brief hiccup and return for one year, about a year after it's second season ended and skipped a year of no development, it eventually returned in recent years, Beyond Bizarre was easily overlooked despite having a significantly darker tone which was almost never seen on TV (and unless you rented or bought movies on VHS at the time,) since such material was never shown (and as time would have it, people prefer to watch fictional depictions that lack the authenticity that the 1990s tended to be known for.)
Many segments of Beyond Bizarre are shown here (which might be most all of the episodes)
Intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eePA3tgwpcU
And Episodes 1-7 (of 13 total) sourced from VHS are here:
https://archive.org/details/@magneticma ... nd+bizarre
The episode order seemed to change over time, so some of those VHS show later in the season The description they provided is the only way to guess what it is on here:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479825/ep ... ef_=tt_eps
A lot of the material was more interesting than authentic research, even though they do go through some lengths to reveal things like medical quackery, while taking such approaches with things like cadaver research (hence bodies decomposing) in order to show such content on TV. Some of the subject matter would seem to inspire a lot of the direction that History Channel and Sci-Fi would take with regards to theories of Ancient Native Americans having a sunken city beneath a lake, as well as possible indication of ancient copper quarries (which is indisputed, as the metal was a very easy source of metal hence they would use it to make copper tools and weapons) but suggesting that ancient Romans might have had some mysterious trade route to the Americas, or due to later bad research by people that assumed the Aztecs or Mayan's had been more common in North America, claims that Aztlan has some connection to Atlantis (and suggests that perhaps they fled from North America and went to Central America, leaving behind a soon to be sunken city.) Usually it's assumed the region of Minnesota was flooded (and covered in ice) so it wouldn't have been a great deal going on beyond tool making, and the mound cultures are plentiful throughout the North Americas, with many indications of stone buildings having been constructed for thousands of years, before any contact from Europe (though too often the "mystery" caused by bad research leads erroneous pathways for the purpose of entertainment.) In many ways it has a similar approach to exploitation films of the 1970s (though anywhere such stuff can be monetized, too often it will persists for many decades.)
Beyond Belief (I forgot the first season in 1997 had a different host, James Brolin, and Jonathan Frakes started in the second season and would remain with it.)

A Shonin genre anime that became more common as DBZ was starting to teeter off, and alternatives were "coming out of the woodwork." It has an interesting approach though, and yet I'm not sure I want to watch it.
I assumed this was an American anime, but it seems to be targeting Otaku (so even though some were saying it was a Nickelodeon show, it clearly wouldn't be something you expect to find on regular TV. . .) Gainax was kind of a legendary anime studio and stopped in 2024. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gainax
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (2010, Gainax)

How any company with a suspected $2 Billion income generated from a series like Neon Genesis Evangelion, managed to go bankrupt, is probably something that should be studied from business schools around the world. Of course some companies are notorious in Japan, such as Olympus (which had Yakuza connections and had laws passed afterwards which restricted any mafia-like organization from conducting business) this would most likely have different reasons.
How Did Gainax Fall Apart?
https://www.escapistmagazine.com/how-di ... all-apart/
I have a better version of this, though this is basically how they started, with creating an opening segment for an anime convention while they were in animation school.
Daicon (III and) IV with music from Electric Light Orchestra - Twilight
(That last one was incomplete and was really just the opening to 4 with a reintroduction of the 3rd Daicon) and omitted the original one which follows after the 4th here.
https://archive.org/details/daicon-open ... tion-fm-rf
Another series they are known for is Gurren Lagann (2007) by Gainax, and I've managed to find some Japanese with Spanish subs, which are kind of annoying to have to see behind English subs (which also required shifting the subs to fit the texts, while also omitting the key language on screen and anything not voiced.) It's worth checking out though, and of course it can be found on websites like Crunchyroll (or of course most likely on "other websites.")

Yukio Ninagawa's Medea [1984]
A Japanese version of a Euripedes (or possibly Hesiod's Theogony) plays, which look an awful lot like some Final Fantasy villains (and perhaps artists like Yoshitaka Amano were inspired by such performances?)
https://archive.org/details/ojo.media.- ... ck-in-town
The uploader claims that the process of transferring the video from vhs "took 6 months and at least 3 destroyed VCRs to do correctly," and that likely no other full length of it exists online. I'm wondering if he was taking many different copies of playthrough and intended to multisample them until they smoothed out?
Mostly it's just fragments of stuff like this:
******
And then you wonder if the reason most of this stuff is "lost" is because it's easy to laugh at it?

A Director I only just now started to notice (I posted some reference to him in recent posts. He mostly does musicals as well as the first of a tacky Ninja trilogy.)
Mack the Knife (Menahem Golan, 1989) Raul Julia
Never released digitally other than on Laserdisc.

It kind of reminds me of the Oliver musical (but very badly Directed. . . As if the guy completely misses the point of why he's there.)
**************************************
I was wondering who the video creator was:
And apparently he claimed in a 10 hour (3 part) autobiographical video, that his mother raped him (and not in the Eric Cartman kind of way because he didn't get an Ipad.)
Excerpt: "My mother had r*ped me over 40 times in that age range (6-10 years). The details make things even vastly worse. My mother waterboarded me at least two or three times or drowning me in the bath. My mom had forced me to r*pe my own sister and she had forced the babysitter to r*pe me."
https://www.sportskeeda.com/us/streamer ... r-explored
Though I don't entirely disagree with some of his statements, he might be a bit messed up.
A less-biased perspective on the topic of mate-suppression is discussed here (the guy basically just copied ideas from this video; though his video is actually slightly older, the ideas represented in it were brought up for some years now.)
Summary:
Danielle Sulikowski, professor of evolutionary psychology, presents a controversial theory on why global fertility rates and birth rates are collapsing. She argues that an evolutionary strategy known as female mate suppression—where dominant women repress the reproductive success of rivals—has shifted in humans into a modern form of antinatal social contagion. Rather than direct biological suppression, the strategy manifests as propaganda and cultural messaging that discourage motherhood, promote career over family, and accelerate population decline. We explore how intrasexual competition among women could shape civilization itself, why some groups might defect against their own society to gain an evolutionary edge, and how this connects to broader debates in feminism, cultural evolution, and civilizational collapse. The conversation also ties in the density-dependent dynamics of Calhoun’s Rat Utopia experiments as a possible parallel to modern urbanization, social media, and declining birth rates.
