On Facebook, posted 5 days before this pizza truck caught fire (claiming he "didn't hear the tank bounce up and down the freeway until it caught a spark and lit up") he posts "IYKYK" which stands for, "if you know, you know," where many of the commentators literally suggests something involving pizza catching fire?

Was this some insurance "job?"

I've been seeing similar sketchy ass shit with some neighbors recently who seem to always have a new car with either a bumper damaged or removed on the front of it, along with what appears to have been a garage catching fire (where a car parked in front of them on the other side had to park a long way down the street because fire trucks were investigating what happened,) perhaps hoping for a payout? I'm not sure how that works for long-term strategy, but it does seem pretty absurd.

I know that gas tanks (especially the newer kind that try to contain emissions) will bulge and heat up and potentially start to pressurize, which can concentrate vapors inside which could light up with a water heater pilot light (hypothetically) but I'm not sure this is what happened, only that they had a destroyed garage door that had some wooden boards attached all along the front of the garage.

They might have moved to an RV to "cook up" some meth, for all I know.

This saved a lot of time:

I only got it for PowerRenamer but it has some other interesting stuff worth checking out.

Download
https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/ ... ag/v0.96.0

Basically enabling it allows you to highlight a folder and all it's contents with the option of searching and excluding specific names without altering any other part of the name. I believe some console commands had a similar function, but this seems a more clear approach.

Not sure if the Github just organizes all of the options for Windows (because Windows seems a bit unclear when it shouldn't be,) though it does appear to be an official Microsoft program.

Apparently you can find fruit trees/bushes around the area to harvest.

A 3D0 game called Firewall was a Korea exclusive, made by LG, though localized on DOS in English (hence the absence of a woman in the 3DO version, despite English being used for a Japanese 'Scientist' character in China (so a bit confusing about the circumstances, though basically it's a "worldly" existential crisis they are facing.

It's just a lower quality fmv from even the Laserdisc arcades games from a decade prior, and equally if not more frustrating, since controls really limit you on whatever version of the game is played.

The DOS version via browser:
https://archive.org/details/msdos_Firew ... chine_1996

(Since it can be confusing what to type in command prompt for DOS ISO games)

And since the 3D0 version (via 4D0 emulator) isn't much different, I'm not sure if using the command prompts from DOSbox and installing it would really benefit much (though using a mouse might be a better alternative, since I did notice some games just lag significantly due to the latency, it wouldn't help significantly simply because all games controlled badly (and some could argue that's by design, such as Resident Evil still being what it is, which increases the scare factor.)

Another game that is considered abandonware is called Ecstatica (which also had a sequel which looks much better) which basically has an abandoned medieval village attacked by rapacious monkeys, and you have nothing but the numpad to move around and figure out the controls (since the only indications of what buttons do what are in the manual.) and you can't move forward and turn simultaneously so it is even worse than Resident Evil controls.

So basically, if you don't have a numpad on a keyboard, this game can only be controlled from the the top row (which would only make it significantly more unplayable.) It is kind of a rare game worth checking out though.

An alternative is installing this (modified executable install requiring override which seems 100% safe) that makes it compatible with modern Windows:

Some of the most random things (mostly clothing, but sometimes church offerings from Salem Massachusetts circa 1800s random.)

They even use a splash page of what looks like vomit and a beanie cap. . . Just so you know what you are getting into. Mostly ragged clothing that looks like it could have come off a corpse.

I came across a business ( https://www.rebeccas.com/stemsteam-6175.html ) that I had probably noticed in it's original location (which you can find info on if you go to their Facebook page where they show the original sign circa 1970s or 1980s) that has now been overrun by residential development, and which is tangentially related to fleeting memories of carnivals and skating arenas (since that was it's original purpose, was supplying prizes and things to the usual amusements which I haven't seen since the 1990s that all seem to have a similar "carney" atmosphere,) but which I never had the chance to go to, and it reminded me of another "lost in time" business circa 1937 that has closed their online presence and now focuses only on selling inventory from their stores (who nevertheless seem to have had inventory sitting around the shops such as a scope used for tanks selling for $25,000 along with magnetic reel tape used for things like the NASA missions, that probably aren't in popular demand.)

American Science & Surplus
Closed down online website:
https://sciplus.com/

Remaining storefront:
WI https://maps.app.goo.gl/M7NSemzkEx6envBv8
Il https://maps.app.goo.gl/s1rPPDnXTeDQx8faA (the one with the $25,000 tank sight scope.)

And perhaps it becomes pretty apparent why these sorts of things aren't around anymore, since anyone can just go online and find alternatives that are probably cheaper or are more professionally minded and specialized in a broader inventory, or have a better logistical infrastructure that serves the purpose as needed (though I also wonder how often selling lab equipment doesn't get you on some DEA list for who the buyers are, and it's another way of just not having to deal with BS.)

And looking at the Google maps images of the activity around those areas, I would find it hard to believe they are generating much business, because it seems more like a novelty shop that people would go out of the way for just to check what they have (but probably not buy anything unless it was purely on impulse, or they needed some of the stuff for special projects.)

I'm tempted to imagine messing with some of the specialty scientific equipment dealing with electricity, though even with things that have no real purpose like Teslacoils when you look online for something like that you find strange things like Teslacoil speakers which shoot static electricity out in sync to your music. . . and of course such stores only have one-off things that people probably introduced to the shop like some pawn shop (so it's a really weird environment that could never have inventory that people could expect a consistent stream of revenue, and not many people are interested in dissecting their own frogs; as that also is an option.)

https://teslacoils.store/

Alternatively, the bygone era of the computer store still lingers in places like Microcenter (some of which I believe are located in former Fryes Electronics which were formerly Electronic USA stores) but also some website called Altex which seems to have inventory I bought at Microcenter when my laptop was fried and I needed a new one two years ago, which is selling for the same amount (and even then their were far better deals on stuff than what they were selling; and based on my experience when shopping there, I would never shop their again but also I avoided ever applying for a job, even if for nostalgic reasons as well as what I believe to be catharsis of things lost to time, I somewhat felt inclined to.)

It's best not to get stuck on things that probably are no more likely to make you feel connected to the past, anymore than to disappoint the more you try to cling to them.

I think I came across similar businesses which I'm always skeptical of because I find it hard to believe such places still exist in this day and age, as they usually seem to have circa 1990s websites that I find nearly impossible to function for any reliable business, and they nearly seem to exist in spite of any realistic business strategy.

An example of something like this was discovered when someone ordered a set of books from Facebook Marketplace and I had to ship it out to them. I suspect the guy was literally living across the street from his business in a retirement home, since they were so old and were close to their 90s and had nothing but a photo of them with some party balloons, and nothing else on their profile, and I formed the assumption based on researching the address, that they might it might have been a front for a marijuana shop. Their relative had their Paypal account used to transfer money to me and it was just a really odd interaction overall.

United Distributors, Inc. (same address as King Vending) but it also had this web domain that when it was up suggested they were selling CBD or Hemp products. . . United420.com
https://wfsites.websitecreatorprotool.c ... -page.html

It's kind of a unique location, as just down from it is a Back to the Future mural, and when you look into the history of the local businesses, you can't help but think, it seems like a time warp. Many parts of the country really haven't changed much for decades, and it's easy to forget how "time" seems to change only in areas were development is ongoing. Often it's easy to forget the past existed very differently though the transition can make you lose perspective if you assume people and places weren't very similar even in spite of cultural or tangible qualities that might seem unrelated (kind of like discovering an extinct animal in permafrost that humanity discarded following a hunt, which we are only able to experience because it was forgotten.)

It would have originally been on 3 discs, or in episodic format, but the Youtube video probably makes the most sense, compared to what's found on Archive org.

The Rotten.com website ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotten.com ) closed in 2012 but I recall it was one of the more lurid websites (though there were many.) I've only recently come across a Facebook page that seemed similar, though I'm not sure if it was already closed down for being too deviant.)

A backup website was made that archived everything, so it's still visible online, but just isn't having anything new added to it. It would have made more since if the below link at least imitated the look of the original website.
