Starkist Tuna has a bit of a reputation it seems?

‘Please don’t eat this food’: Woman claims to find note from factory worker in StarKist tuna
https://www.dailydot.com/irl/note-in-starkist-tuna

2021:
Israel’s Ministry of Health has announced a recall on a series of StarKist canned tuna due to complaints of side effects by consumers. It pertains to light tuna chunks in olive oil (80 grams) canned items, which came from Dardanel, Turkey. The products expire on the following dates: 13.06. 2021, 12.06.

Korean-Owned StarKist Tuna Says 'No' To FDA

At the cannery inspection last Nov. 1-4, FDA found “serious violations” involving StarKist’s seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point plan and its production of low-acid canned foods. FDA said both the canned tuna and pouched packed tuna being produced by StarKist on American Samoa are “adulterated.”

It reminds me of opening a box of Christmas ornaments for displaying on a shelf for Walmart, and a worker in China's name badge was carefully placed inside the bottom of the box (as if to protest the working conditions and walking off the job, and to say, "fuck you Americans!")

Initially, I was thinking the note on social media could be an attempt at faking a story for viral attention, following what not long ago appeared to be clothing tags with either a bad choice of words or changed words protesting the work conditions; though the tuna might be legit.

The university had held a 33-person meeting about the incident on November 10, with Everett and other administrators such as the dean of students, the interim provost, the assistant director of social justice programs, and the university chaplain among those in attendance, as well as a number of students.

“Of all of the conversations that were held between the MSA and the administration about what to do about the situation, the faculty member was excluded and not a single scholarly voice was ever included,” Berkson told Hyperallergic. “So nobody in the room actually knew anything about these images.”

I'm sure many people in the context of the first two articles would have rather their situation was better. Think of those who abuse and commit unspeakable crimes or who are codependent wives and let Daddy have his way with their little "pumkin," and feign ignorance that their daughter went missing and was locked in a basement crawl space to start a new life together with future grandpa (Josef Fritzl?)

If Jordan Peterson interviewed Josef Fritzl would he come to the conclusion that he was only looking out for his daughter's well-being and development, and that it was she that was immature?

I don't agree with Peterson on the child issue. His reasoning seems shallow in this case (it's basically - hey, it's what people have always done).

In an ideal world (one which was not already over-populated) then I would say it would be great if everyone had exactly two children per couple (one to replace the male parent and one to replace the female parent). One child each per lifetime in other words.

I think I have read the ideal global population would be 3 billion or so. The reasoning is this kind of number would allow for all the necessary labor to get done as well as provide a large enough pool of bright minds that further scientific/technological progress would continue.

Over and above that, you just have a large number of generally poor, uneducated masses milling about straining global resources. In some sense more labor/goods is needed to support them, but if they simply didn't exist, humanity would continue to thrive (probably better than today) and the planet would be both in much better shape and a more pleasant environment. There would still be loads of undeveloped wilderness and seas teeming with fish, etc.

The 3 billion ship has long since sailed, and nobody is inclined to view things this way anyway. So we'll see what happens. There has to be some population threshold which would trigger some sort of global collapse, but we won't hit it during my lifetime, or probably for several more generations. Will humanity overcome their biological imperatives/religious programming by then? Who knows.

One of the arguments for population collapse deals with the global economy which relies on available workforce, but also the strain of resources dependent on newer innovations which are expected to minimize strain of resources, but also the fear that industrialization of agriculture hasn't completely depleted the available land for harvest (which depended on entirely new innovations to curb the damage being done by population growth.)

A lot of it has to do with "business as usual" without regards to the consequences (locally and geopolitically, which is catching up significantly.)

Globalization is About to Collapse. Here's Why (25:18 'Empty Planet')

Jordan Peterson has a reputation to contradict himself and the knowledge that exists on topics, and if he didn't try to create soundbites or hocking his crap lectures requiring admissions fees, or created sculptures of his head for sale on his website, or peddling his half-assed diet insights which his daughter hocks her "expertise" for consultation fees. . . (When both of their issues with inflammation, mistaken for allergic reactions, where likely an auto-immune issue caused by crap ass diets, much as I've seen with a family with two adopted daughters compeletely unrelated to eachother.) It's these ignoramuses that are too shallow and vacuous to realize what they are getting into that seems oblivious to the reality of what they talk about, and even Jordan Peterson with his benzo dependency says all you need to know about his expertise on the topics he talks about.

The fact he interviewed Andrew Tate just prior to his arrest suggests he's just running a similar racket sans prostitutes.

Of course what likely will happen is automation will drastically change how people survive, that unless a system was in place to prevent people from overpopulation (such as, "useful workers" needed to keep the cogs of the machine operating as usual,) while also encouraging consumption of things needed to sustain economic models, while also giving people a purpose beyond escapism (suggesting an absurd imbalance of reward for anything beyond puerile dystopic nonsense) then it's possible that some kind of extreme form of socialism or communism will have to be relied upon, which probably wouldn't happen unless some global catastrophe takes place.

Already, society is falling prey to a behavioral sink caused by post-modernism or late-stage capitalism.

The ubiquitous fake ass Facebook accounts 'Washington Janice'
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100088797915305

Real name of the spoofed person: 'Alena Arshinova'
http://sovch.chuvashia.com/?p=234184

They revealed who the person was by showing a Cyrillic flag of the political party.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Russia

The profile was propping up another fake business page for Eni patroleum, where a bunch of fake love scam accounts link to in an attempt to hide from a legitimate business, so when asked, "why do you have a fake account," and they respond back, "we are a different company," and then follows up many months later to the effect of, "did you ever ask the Management of that company about the identity of the person you were looking into?" (long since removed from Facebook after reporting it.)

A lot of the accounts could be autopiloted by AI and operated in a loop, where a main account will post on somewhere like Youtube comments, and a bunch of other fake accounts will generate a lot of activity to give the appearance of legitimacy. They use a Russian person who won't easily be Google image searched without some way to easily identify it using English searches.

And they try to throw you off the scent by claiming to be all over the place internationally (such as educated in England, living in France, or perhaps living in Washington state or D.C., and a very different name from the actual person.

Half the time I suspect no one can be bothered to do any actual research or to even report the account to the person in question, and I've been seeing a ton of shit on Quora as well, where someone uses another politician from Florida who otherwise has a very low profile (so if you contacted their legit Facebook account from when they ran for office a decade ago, you won't get a reply because it's unmonitored,) and so the person who spoofs their image runs around duping dumb ass gullible people for money.

The military or oil rig fake accounts are the most common (which use the ambiguity of being deployed or in some random place where you must come to their aid due to not having access to finances which they promise to pay the victim back,) though usually, they use a little-known politician and use the oil company as their occupation, but I've also seen people that model or have a fitness company have their image used.

I'm ot a fan of fun causes like SETI when there are more important causes, and another thing I don't like about SETI is their logo. I don't know how long they've had it but I just noticed the dumb upside down S and it bothers me. it's low effort and looks unbalanced because the large part of the S is on top.

Pretty sure I've ranted more than once about various forms of telemarketing in the USA.

Is this a USA-only sort of thing, or do people who live in other countries experience the joy of people trying to wrangle (con) money out of you over the phone on a regular basis?*

I think it likely does. It certainly happens in Canada. Might be more common in English speaking countries due to call centers (like in India) being able to find lots of low wage employees who speak English. Not sure though. Perhaps French speaking countries get calls from folks with Vietnamese or Algerian accents, and Spanish speaking countries hear Mexican or Venezuelan accents or the like.

I think scam calls outpace telemarketing calls these days though. Both are annoying.
