A letter coming in the mail (not at the house yet.)
The $5.54 Billion Class Action Lawsuit against Visa/Mastercard, where only the "digital wallet" providers (PayPal, Apple, Amazon, Walmart) are going to benefit (since any merchant/buyer/user is just the victim that get little payout from it once the legal battle fees and outcome goes to favor them.)

If the democrats were tough enough on border control from the start and curbed the problem, or if they didn't choose a black/Asian female for VP largely because she was a multi-minority, this wouldn't have happened IMO. Oh, and don't elect 70+ year olds! Biden could have won if he were 10-15 years younger.Updated 3m ago

For the first time tonight, we consider Trump likely to win the presidency. He has an advantage in each of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. To win, Harris would need to sweep all three. There is still a lot of vote left, but in the voting so far, Trump is narrowly but discernibly ahead.

Biden probably should have dropped out a lot sooner. He left the party in just about the worst possible situation--no time to actually choose another candidate, and only the last 3 months of a 2-year campaign cycle to promote the one they defaulted to.HighlyIrregular II wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 3:52 amhttps://www.nytimes.com/interactive/202 ... eedle.html

Of course they might have just been screwed anyway.

Biden was actually the best candidate for the Democratic Party because he's senile and can't learn anything new, just like them.Roger Mexico wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 6:07 amBiden probably should have dropped out a lot sooner. I never thought she had a snowball's chance in hell. I thought Nader made some good points on (I think it was) Democracy Now; she went after the Republican base instead of tapping into the disenfranchised Democratic one. It is interesting to see moderates like David Brooks in the NYT saying that maybe to challenge Trump the party needed someone disruptive like Bernie Sanders all along, someone he personally wouldn't feel comfortable with. The consensus seems to be that the Democrats won't learn (again). I've never seen so many Democrats saying that.
They never deliver but there's always a worse option, so they ask for the vote for nothing in exchange. That won't work every time. I feel the same way about Trump as I do about Milei in Argentina; in their profound political ignorance, there is a huge amount of common sense in people not voting a failed candidate, painful as the result will be.
I worry about Israel now going even further with Trump's support. Hopefully this means Zelensky negotiates, but I'm not even very sure about that.

Maybe with China taking that international island and Russia taking part of Ukraine we need to help Israel destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities, and if Trump's the one to help with that, maybe Russia won't retaliate. Trump may help Russia save face and win in Ukraine and in return we get a better balance of power.

Trump chose Fox news host Pete Hegseth as defense secretary. A Fox headline defends this by quoting the former White House Press Secretary as saying "he's the guy for the job."

Could anyone in the world other than Trump REALLY think this is a good choice? The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) is responsible for policy development, planning, resource management and program evaluation. OSD includes the offices of top civilian defense decision-makers with regard to personnel, weapons acquisition, research, intelligence and fiscal policy, as well as offices the Secretary establishes to assist in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
