I had been introduced to the music by an Australian woman, and the Detroit musician is rarely even recognized in his own country (it could be because he's singing about drugs. . .)

Documentary worth checking out.

Love that album and love love love the documentary. Hard to listen to now because it brings me back to a sad time, though.

Oh no! I just googled him and he died like two days ago. </3

Fuck it.

I was looking over some Blu Ray collections of Hazao Miyazaki's films and realize almost all of the ones available are pirated (which it didn't help that Studio Ghibli nearly refused to do streaming and allowed pirated films to flourish in it's place) and when looking over some of the versions, this concert was apparently in place of one of the movies.

Ghibli & Joe Hisaishi Budôkan Concert Tôkyô 2008 [4K - 2160p] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4673554/

It's the sort of thing unique to Japan, and I've only seen similar treatment of Nobuo Uematsu's work in Final Fantasy, though he somehow managed to get a more international presence and has had the music performed all over the world (even having the music playing by request in the USA on radio stations.)

I realize I was actually looking for this book, though the music could just as well apply to it. . .

I was looking up the famous "Flatiron building" in NYC which apparently has no tenants in it (it's no longer trendy,) which had historically been one of the operating locations of 'Murder Inc.'

J Dilla *Jay Dee" died from a heart failure, and while expecting the inevitable 3 days prior to his passing had a sample recorded from the hospital bed. This seems to have been added to in this release, but it's basically what it sounded like (I'll add the original recording below it.)

It sounds like they tried to speed it up at the beginning, so it sounds like a chipmunk.

In 1982 this was sold on cassette tapes. . . It "might have" also led to the video game crash of 1983.

It actually only features Pac-Man in the first song:
"Pac-Man Fever" (Pac-Man)
"Froggy's Lament" (Frogger)
"Ode to a Centipede" (Centipede)
"Do the Donkey Kong" (Donkey Kong)
"Hyperspace" (Asteroids)
"The Defender" (Defender)
"Mousetrap" (Mouse Trap)
"Goin' Berzerk" (Berzerk)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckner_%26_Garcia

It also reminds me, the movie for Super Mario bros that came out in 1993 also had an audio cassette which is a bit more tolerable than the movie.
