People who 'hear voices' can detect hidden speech in unusual sounds https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 085707.htm

Neat article. I adjacently related, I recently learned that I can intentionally problem solve by invoking auditory conversations between people in their voices. Ones which might take place to explain their behavior toward me or whom/what-ever and how they might reason about it in response. If that makes sense. But like when there's mild innocuous ambient noise about from an oscillating fan or humming a/c. Like we're talking sophisticated type of convos. It's cool 'cause I'm spontaneously generating it without trying but I'm aware who the thought 'author' is (me lol) - kinda thing. Yes I could've lifted the proper jargon from the internet for more precision but that's cheating. Honestly I'm convinced I'm unusually clever and it's basically just advanced creativity. Also, that reminds me I should go looking for internet groups where people share similar non-psychiatric features of mind, i.e. acute hearing, creativity and the parsing of sensory stimuli that spontaneously triggers lots of references about stuff. Seems like it could be monetized somehow. Cool parlor trick perhaps? Still would be cool to be like you nerds. But I'm still more different neener neener neeeeeener. I guess all I'm trying to say is there's joy in self-discovery isn't there.

Chris Langan has stated that the Covid vaccine is a slow-kill depop agenda?

Chris Langan seems a bit nuts. One would think a high IQ (which he supposedly has) would provide the necessary critical thinking skills to prevent one from falling down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole. Maybe not.

Quite a few highly gifted people seem very irrational (it's actually more common than not to have extreme neurosis.) It depends on how much people seek social approval and conform to consensus. Usually, conspiracy theories are less common, but some of the conclusions that conflict with official reports can only be gleaned by people who don't agree with 'authority' on a subject. '

The kinds of conspiratorial thinking of people like Alex Jones can only come from extreme narcissism, and Chris Langan is definitely a narcissist. His biggest supporters have turned their back on him (but still seem obsessed with being active on Facebook groups that focus on his "theory of everything") and he's also doing some kind of routine where he expects people to pay him a lot of money (an interview is $10,000) just to be in his presence. He sort of has an Ayn Rand "flying monkey" troupe, not unlike the Raelians or Billy Meier kool-aid fan club.

Basically, "reading thoughts" requires predictive models, which aren't actually mind-readers, but interpreters for what someone could be thinking based on preproprammed and predictive interpretations. Using an MRI would be fairly restrictive. . .

I think a lot of maths education is quite rigidly focused around certain essential tools, which is understandable as these tend to be what you actually need for certain subjects. Recently though I've been finding myself interested in topics which are off-piste from the modern syllabus, like spherical geometry, umbral calculus/Newton's finite differences, projective geometry - topics which used to have importance but in modern times have less importance. Even though the maths involved is straightforward enough for even a late secondary school student to grasp.

Anyway this sort of comes under information or details which are kind of basic but largely overlooked to all but people who have to implement this kind of thing:

Ex falso, quodlibet

Another reason I wish Ptah would release posts from the old forum...I had an explanation for something that the standard explanation was insufficient in explaining. I asked a science question to the forum, Sista gave the standard explanation, which the world seems satisfied with, but then I gave my improved explanation. I don't remember the details. It may have been related to reflection.

I still don't remember ^^^ but reflections always seemed weird to me. If you look in the mirror you see a sharp image of yourself, but if someone behind you is looking in that same mirror, he'll see a sharp image of you too whether his head is above, below, left, or right of yours, because the light from every part of your face bounces in every direction. Yet you don't see a blur. And it's not like focusing for a given distance is the key because every part of your face is a different distance from your eyes.

Ask a physicist: Do humans have souls?
https://bigthink.com/series/great-quest ... have-souls

I'm sure I will sound like a quack, stupid, or perhaps ignorant, but it seems very evident Standard Model physics is incomplete and hasn't resolved some basic ideas such as gravity (which by extension could operate within physics similar to how consciousness exists.)

From what I've studied of Electronic Voice Phenomenon (amongst other things) and based on people I've discussed the topic with, I am fairly certain consciousness exists in spite of physicality and material-based consciousness (whether the chicken or the egg came first is perhaps relevant to consider, though some argue a level of consciousness persists as an extension of materialism within another dimension that is extant throughout the physical universe.)

Dualism requires a belief in god and monism would be an argument for or against material-based consciousness as argued by a Physicist who is basing their understanding on what contemporary society considers "knowable" (which hypothetically presumes that an overarching consciousness or perhaps some kind of AI might not be operating a simulation experiment, whether it has autonomy or any form of self-awareness?)

Max Planck said, "All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter."

https://www.aaas.org/quantum-mechanics- ... connection

Is the idea of consciousness existing throughout the universe religious, spiritual, or utilitarian with regard to how life exists?
