If you could change anything about your personality, what would it be?

And why don't you?

More confidence.
And why don't you?
Now where's the fun in that.

Hmm, maybe more extroverted? Or at least maybe more socially engaged.

As to why not - that is easier said than done. It's hard to change one's nature IMO.

So in my example above, if I really enjoyed being extroverted I suppose I would be, but I don't really enjoy that mode of behavior. I would just like some of the perks that come from it - more friends, more social activity of the type I would enjoy.

And it's not like a task that one just needs to complete to get the benefit. A true personality change would have to be ongoing, and that means a constant struggle against your nature. Unless you can really change your nature. I've not experienced that personally, nor have I witnessed it first hand. Most of the people I have known who really could use some self improvement, tend to relapse into their old bad habits if they can even manage to rise above them in the first place.

Lacking as my personality is in certain aspects I really don't think I would want to change it. Not because it does not have its flaws, but because those flaws are what make me myself.

I think most autistic people probably follow a similar curve to mine regards their relationship with themselves. I spent my childhood struggling to interact with people, I then spent my 20's trying to appear normal and not really liking myself very much, before coming to a realisation in my mid 30s that I am what I am and stopping trying to be anyone else. It was only really at that point that I managed to be happy.

Changing an aspect of that would feel to me like a removal of authenticity, and I would rather be authentic and flawed than perfect and not me.

I've never been diagnosed with ASD, but damn.

Better decision making. I don't know how to choose.
