Logan's Run TV series (1977-1978) hasn't aged well. The opening to this video sounds like they used the sound dubbing from a porno.

(Most of it is below an 8 rating, which for me means don't waste your time on it.)

I still find this interesting, however, though it's the movie and not the show (I was curious where the location of Sanctuary was filmed, and what the place looks like now.) I've been to the Dallas World Trade Center/Market Hall (specifically the wholesaler's location he mentions was off-limits) where many of the scenes were filmed, and the thumbnail is showing an area of Ft Worth called the Water Gardens.


The movie from 1976 is what people typically remember (though it's easily forgotten in comparison to Star Wars, for a reason. It hasn't aged well, though the dystopian "utopia" sci-fi theme has always fascinated me.)

The sign in the video at the 'Water Garden' points out a major oversight in the construction, where anyone that falls in has little chance of getting out safely, suggesting whoever designed it was a bit of a dunce. . . Their should have been something to prevent people from falling in too deeply, to where the water could still drain out but not prevent people from being recovered.

Admittedly, I thought it was some little toddler that fell in accidentally, but it sounds like one of them jumped in, and the rest followed. . . They used it as a swimming pool and had on swimsuits. . .


It's worth mentioning that Logan Run was sort of the "grand daddy" of sci-fi that came after it; even the very terminology incorporated into the movie, contributed to the most famous of sci-fi movies.

And absurdly, the very product itself was a bit of an objectified gag gift called the Lilli doll, which was perceived as offensive to give to kids, so it failed in parts of the world with more conservative views. It wasn't until the warped marketing and hyper normalization of fakery in America that it became an artificial cultural trope that appealed to the narcissism of American culture. This is just a later version of marketing cigarettes to women as "liberation," with the same toxic side-effects.

James Dean's Porsche Spyder got into an accident and he died right as the film was coming out.

In the movie the property claimed to be owned was half a million acres, but the filming location, 'Ryan Ranch' is about 37,000 acres and has a listing price of $27 million.
