I'm wondering why they didn't try explosives under the bow sand formation to induce collapse of the upper layer.

Where would it go though? the sand has to go somewhere and if it just settled further into the canal it probably would just cause more problems. Plus, that could damage the ship.

Disperse over a large area and flow down the canal hopefully like kicking up sand in a lake/river. But yeah, might have been too risky to the ship.

Well it might have delayed my raw materials and some goods going out, but it has given me an idea for better explaining how Xylem loading works for silicon in plant tissue. Every cloud and all that.
