I think something will change. There is a "vibe shift" going on for some reason.

I doubt gun control laws will change in any meaningful fashion. And failing that, I can't see how much will change.
Mass shootings do seem to be trending at an all time high though. Not sure why. Possibly psychotic killer types get inspired by social media. It certainly seems they do. Social media seems to be a strong amplifier of most of humanities baser flaws.

24 fucking minutes?
Isn't there a shorter version conveniently nailed to a church door somewhere?

I used to use a kettle, but since it's not faster and needs to be cleaned I don't bother anymore. Water for the oatmeal goes in a pyrex cup in the microwave.
My girlfriend's stove has a burner that gets extra hot and boils water really quickly so that's nice. I think stoves get two-phase power which makes that possible.

What do you use instead of a kettle?puerile_polyp wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 7:07 pmI used to use a kettle, but since it's not faster and needs to be cleaned I don't bother anymore.
Then your water is soft? Everywhere I've lived, limescale builds up pretty quickly over time.

The pyrex cup in the microwave. Oatmeal is basically all I boil water for. I don't drink tea. Although I used to drink tea sometimes when I worked at the shelter and we had a water heater with a spigot.Utisz wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 10:54 pmWhat do you use instead of a kettle?puerile_polyp wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 7:07 pmI used to use a kettle, but since it's not faster and needs to be cleaned I don't bother anymore.
Side note, I found the perfect method for quick and easy oatmeal after a long time. Everybody always tries to microwave quick oats and then they boil over. The trick is to pour boiling water over the quick oats, cover it and let it sit for a few minutes. I use large coffee mugs so there's room to add peanut butter or whatever.

I guess. There isn't any data on dissolved solids in our water supply as it's probably a bit small (spring fed supply for ~3,000 people). NZs water is generally considered soft and I just had a look at my kettle which I've had for ~20 years and it looks like new.
