Our ISP is now Starlink, another product brought to us by Overlord Musk. It costs 3x what our old service does with a 10x performance improvement. It is nice that people anywhere in the world can (or soon can) get a decent internet connection.

It's also nice to know a bit of my monthly subscription will help send man to Mars or help Elon buy Twitter.

Saw the google has a doodle set to the full 2:30 of Get Your Kicks on Route 66.

How can I notify @someinternetbloke? Did you see this? https://www.google.com/?mlLightbox=1
Thanks. It's this particular cultural artifact, the Route 66 doodle, which summons such fond memories all laying neatly adjacent on a scenic stretch of remote road of my mind. My Dad and I would've had a blast on your road trip suggestion. But since he's gone I'm content traveling on memory lane.
Oh man, sorry to hear he's gone.

There's a new client onboard the facility rehab group. He's reading a Doyle novel. The oldy-but-goody, Sherlock Holmes. We shared a moment where he smoked and I listened. The convo reminded me of something I live by.

I introduce you to the ABCD's of being me on the clock

A. Accept nothing (as true)
B. Believe nobody
C. Check everything
D. Do unto others...

It's fitting that I'm working in capacity of the law enforcement adjacent occupation of rehab specialist, until school's done at least. I mostly do facility intakes monitoring. Out clients are homeless addicts so suspicious behavior i.e. signs of unhealthy ideation, elicit drug use, etc are what I'm looking out for. It's a job useful for honing people skills. Truth is I quite like my job. Plus the facility is ran by a private company that's giving me discounted rent ($425/month) in exchange for performing additional duties i.e. facility maintenance and any periodical tidying.

We've a total of 10 clients out of 15.

My life is partly untrue and that's what makes it comedy. So now you're all in on the joke. I intend on writing a TV pilot and/or a movie with my actual sense of humor. Not the sorry excuses for ones all the *female Australian accent* famoes so-called borrow from me for their productions and such. Hahaha. *Whispers* I post all my ideas on this forum pretending this is my actual sense of humor lol. Ha, the joke's on those *more black non-female Australian accent* famoes.

*All black no Australian accent* Stupid famoes!!

I am who I am.

Didn't the Dominican Republic have mysterious deaths occur in 2019, thought to be caused by contaminated alcohol? And room service comes to one of the rooms to ask specifically if they wanted any empty bottles taken, while the bottles available were already opened in the room? I would trust the samples for toxicology tests to not be removed by another cadaver, as any country investigating what is happening may have an invested interest in not scaring away tourists.

3 die in Sandals resort and another in critical condition (does freon coolant cause this)

Do they just refill the AC each time someone arrives, or would it be cheaper just to replace the units?

Here it's saying 21 died of adulterated alcohol in D.R.

Is it possible the resort is mixing cheap methanol and refilling empty bottles?

Spam calls from spoofed numbers is seriously making me consider doing this:

I had used this in the past but it seemed to conflict with me being able to respond to people.
https://voice.google.com/

It's a bit like having a bluetooth connection to respond without having a microphone, or having something completly prevent you from using a phone as intended.

Update: Deleting or attempting to keep private phone numbers on job websites (especially Monster.com, Ziprecruiter, Indeed, etc.) is fairly significant in reducing spam calls, but also when specifically noticing certain zip codes with the same first 6 digits, are more likely to be spoofed numbers over VOIP, most likely originating in India, et al.

It might also be best to let it ring for awhile and stop it before it reaches the voicemail so that they might assume it's been disconnected.

I remember McGuffin being highly critical of the response time for Norwegian Police to get to an island well outside of Oslo... I wonder what his thoughts are about the kids waiting over an hour for the Police just outside their door to respond?

With the NRA saying "all it takes is a good guy with a gun", I wonder what was missing? The gun or the good guy?

I think even a good guy with a gun would have been thoroughly out-gunned by this guy. Not that those cops shouldn't have gone in anyway.

Kinda makes you wonder if race had anything to do with this too.

That would make it even more ironic that it was the Border Patrol that gave the cops the finger and went in without authorisation.

Speaking of islands, I think there should have been a hollowed out log that the castaways took turns wearing when it was time to wash their clothes on Gilligan's Island. It would have made the show even more sexy.

I want to win a Key to the City award where I get to walk into any room in any store, office building, government agency, factory, etc. just to look around. I'm sitting in the library and I want to go through the two emergency exits to look at the back yard. I want to look through old store basements. I want to see the room in the back of the bus depot. I want to enter construction sites and listen to what the engineers are saying. I want to hear celebrity conversations in green rooms of TV studios.
