"You know" saying....

When I was seeing a psychologist for depression at the age of 19 or 20 I said "you know" and he was annoyed and said "no I don't know!" so I stopped saying it.

Then Morty in "Rick and Morty" says "you know" quite a lot.

Now I've started using "you know" again.... I use it to sort of check in to see if people are following me.

You know, it's, like, super annoying, or whatever.

The NY DJ Joe Causi uses it a lot after telling a lame joke. It lowers his talent ranking IMO, but if someone stopped him, his jokes might end unnaturally abruptly. A full communication skills package is needed. Removing things a la carte doesn't always work.

They use it like commas where I'm from. Here's an interview of people from my area ...

But when I say it it is very deliberate....

I like Fernando's long form at 11 seconds.
