Director Kevin Smith (the movie Clerks character, Silent Bob, also directed and acted as in the movie Dogma) is filming a 'Kilroy was here!' movie, released this year.

I only knew the reference of Kilroy from Mr. Roboto - Styx (who seemed to be critiquing where society was heading) :

And apparently, it would be a reference popularized in WW2 whenever the Allied military would leave the doodle of graffiti behind. The first reference to the graffiti was without the drawing, but just the words, inside Fort Knox (Kentucky) in 1937, and first depicted without the words (with a character called, 'Mr. Chad' in 1938 Britain.
