Starships, interstellar travel and Dyson spheres
Starships, interstellar travel and Dyson spheres
Interstellar travel based within conventional physics might best be achieved with Dyson spheres. Developing technologies for human-made manageable celestial entities would also be beneficial as would also be locating beneficial chemically constituent celestial objects (helium, nitrogen, oxygen & hydrogen etc) capable of creating 'analogue' or natural, self catalysing processes for life support (water & oxygen), energy, gravity & propulsion.
Re: Starships, interstellar travel and Dyson spheres
On another messageboard a guy was talking about populating the galaxy - it involves a "lightsail" that can go at .01c (1% of the speed of light)
"it can be hypothesized that there are 11 billion potentially habitable Earth-sized planets in the Milky Way"
BTW it is theoretically possible to make warp drives that allow travel that is faster than the speed of light:

BTW a dyson sphere involves surrounding a star and seems like it would take a long time to construct...

This is about possible future civilizations:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exoplanetthe lightsail is carrying a factory. It finds an asteroid and builds a facility capable of receiving a laser message containing the data for the mind and loads it into a computer it built. Thus the people can move at lightspeed to any world with a base on it. Placing the bases is limited to the .01c of a lightsail.

but..
and I mention advances in fusion technology because this post was inspired after watching a doco on the latest achievements, and going back to the man made stipulation, what if the celestial objects that the spheres are created around are the size of a car or a house, city, state etc.

Re: Starships, interstellar travel and Dyson spheres
BTW what did you think of the rest? It was related to interstellar travel....
