I'm not clear on whether aid agencies were allowed to air drop food in Gaza and didn't because of cost so they held out for permission to bring in trucks. And I'm unclear on whether avoiding dropping food on a tent is really impossibly hard. I think Israel blamed the aid groups for not having people on the ground when food arrived. I'm not clear whether aid groups are supposed to be making sure food isn't snatched up by fighters and failed to do so.

My impression is that air drops are too hard to control. The hungry mob will just grab what they can when the crates hit the ground. So whatever aid agencies are still operating can't really control who gets it, so fighters and black marketeers are as likely to get it as anybody. Although I am sure some civilians can get lucky.

It's just a chaotic way to distribute food. Trucks and the usual aid agencies would be better, even if there is some level of influence/corruption by Hamas inside said agencies. Starving out Hamas is not really a workable strategy, although it does make them look bad. Hamas seems more than willing to "martyr" all the civilians in Gaza, whether they agree or not.

I notice an Arab league call for Hamas to step down and disarm went out on the same day I write this. I agree, sometimes you just have to admit defeat.
