Yes, and it is miserable unless (presumably) you allow yourself to acclimate to it. EVERYTHING is obnoxiously sweet here and it is disgusting. Just before I moved here I started drinking Barq's, which is a root beer from coca-cola that almost tastes like real root beer (which is, essentially, boiled roots and rocks) but in the US tastes like dusty syrup. Utterly vile.Utisz wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 3:33 amDoes your food and soft drinks and stuff taste different because of high fructose corn syrup? I understand that Coca Cola used to be sugar-based in the U.S. and is still sugar-based (sucrose-based) in many other countries. I guess I'm wondering if you can taste the difference or not.
"Mexican Coke", coke made with sugar and put in a glass bottle, is weirdly fetishised here and from what I hear is only made in Mexico for export to the US. This is just such an endlessly and exhaustingly dumb place.
